Amy McCleese Nichols grew up in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and remains invested in the places and experiences of her home region. Her poetry explores the interplay of the sacred and the everyday in these settings. McCleese is a doctoral candidate in Rhetoric and Composition and the 2016 recipient of the University of Louisville Creative Writing Award for Poetry. Her work has also appeared in the “Appalachia Under Thirty” issue of Pine Mountain Sand and Gravel.
